WaterPik® Helps Dental Health

Unless you happen to be one of the lucky few who have perfect teeth and who go through life without any cavities just by brushing your teeth each day, you would do well to get a WaterPik® machine. These devices can be purchased for about fifty dollars or less, and they can easily save a person or family many times this amount in dental bills over the long term.

This certainly has been the case for me, and let me say I have no relationship whatever with the company that makes and sells WaterPik®. I am just a long term user of the device who has seen the difference that using one can make.

As a boy I didn’t know much about taking care of my teeth, and I developed lots of cavities, even in my baby teeth. After my permanent teeth had all come in, it didn’t take long and I had lots of fillings in those too, and of course that remains the case today.

As a young man I once had a massive toothache and was forced to go to the dentist. This dentist quickly noticed the sorry state of affairs in my mouth and scolded me for being so negligent. I guess I thought I had better things to spend time on than my teeth, but this was a serious error in judgment. The dentist told me that I needed to purchase a WaterPik®, and that if I had been using one I could have avoided the root canal he was about to perform. He said that if all his patients would use one they would easily eliminate over half their dental problems.

For some reason my mouth also produces a lot of tarter on my teeth. If I didn’t go to a dental hygienist for a cleaning every six months I would develop large areas of tarter on my teeth. When the hygienist would scrape that away it sometimes felt like a chunk of some teeth had broken off.

The WaterPik® helps eliminate those problems. I have not had a new cavity in decades, but I do have to brush twice a day, floss, use the WaterPik® machine, and go for cleanings religiously every six months. My hygienist has commented on several occasions about how healthy my gums are. They never bleed even though she pokes at them with that sharp dental tool. Gum disease is unfortunately very prevalent in many people. Often they have infection and inflammation they aren’t even aware of, and this can cause other, more serious health problems.

A WaterPik® is a small investment that can pay major dividends over the long haul for most people.
